As Founder & President of CACS, I am dedicated to a service
which will enhance the awareness and unconscious injustice of
the aging population and Citizens with disabilities, so all will
be included in social situations. Our goal is to serve as advocates
providing training and awareness programs necessary to address
the importance of inclusion in an aging society.
On July 28, 1983, I was injured in an automobile
accident by the negligence of a truck driver. Rising up, pushing
myself out into a vast new world packed with a variety of new
challenges and physical barriers, advocacy just seemed to come
natural. As a person, whose life was impacted by a disability
acquired through an accident, I soon realized we are all only
temporally "able-bodied." If we are fortunate enough
to live to a "ripe old age," chances are disability
will one day impact all of our lives. Whether temporary or permanent
through injury, illness, or by accident, disability is a natural
part of life.
Previously my employment as a Counselor/Youth
Services Coordinator at Insight Enterprises, Peninsula Center
for Independent Living, Inc. enlightened me of the many facets
of life the community was totally unaware in regards to people
with disabilities.
While attending to business, I find time to
be involved with community events and actively serve on a variety
of local and state committees - often taking on leadership roles.
Most notably I have been inducted to the Wall of Fame of Cornell
High School, Coraopolis, PA where I graduated in 1979; I am honored
and extremely humbled to be recognized.
It is my belief "showing up" will
not only count as participation, but it offers awareness that
people with disabilities can and should be included in social
activities. We look forward to providing educational services
which help to enhance recognition of viable Citizens.
